Privacy Policy
MapPak is built so that your data stays yours. There are no accounts, no cloud storage of your content, and nothing about you is sold or used for advertising — by us or anyone else.
What stays on your phone
Everything you create or import: your maps (geospatial PDFs, GeoTIFFs, and images you georeference), placemarks, measured and recorded lines and areas, downloaded offline basemap areas, and app settings. MapPak stores all of it on your device only. We cannot see it, and it is never uploaded to us.
Your location
Your GPS position is read by the app to show your location on the map and to record tracks you explicitly start. It is processed on the device and is never transmitted to us or to any third party. Location is used only while you are using the app — there is no background tracking.
What we collect: crash diagnostics only
If the app crashes or hits an internal error, an anonymized diagnostic report is sent to us through Sentry, a crash-reporting service. These reports contain technical details (device model, operating system version, app version, and the error itself) and are configured to exclude personal information. They contain no location history, no map content, and no identifiers used for tracking or advertising. We use them for exactly one thing: fixing bugs.
Online map services
MapPak works offline, but when you are online it can fetch map data over the network: basemap tiles when you view or download an area, and optional satellite imagery provided by Esri (satellite imagery is online-only and is never stored in offline downloads). Like any internet request, these fetches expose your IP address to the servers involved. They are plain tile requests — no account, no personal profile, nothing linked to your identity by MapPak.
What we don't do
No accounts. No analytics or advertising SDKs. No selling, sharing, or monetizing data. No tracking across apps or websites. If a future version of MapPak ever changes any of this, this policy will change first — and the app will tell you.
Children
MapPak is a general-audience utility and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children.
